Love My T7 Turret

Yup. Everything Highboy has said about this press is right on. To do it all over, I would have started with this press. It’s expensive for a beginner, but the adage “buy once, cry once” applies.
You may have seen the “unboxing” video for this press over on Highboy’s YouTube channel:

Today I loaded my first 100 rounds on the T7 to teach myself “the ropes” for this press. If you already know how to reload, then there really isn’t much of a learning curve here. I needed a few rounds to get the hang of the rhythm of rotating the turret, but that was about it. I did one cycle to size and expand the cases. I prefer to prime off press, so I did that, and also charged off press with the RCBS powder measure that has the micrometer adjustment. Then back to the T7 for seating and crimping. These were copper plated bullets, so I used the Redding profile crimp die. That die has become one of my favorites, and I have them for several of my calibers now.

The press ran very well. Good and solid turret positioning, no slop felt anywhere. The only modification I felt compelled to make was to take a micro file to the sharp edges on the shell-holder receiver at the top of the ram. You could shave with those edges, and a finger cut would have been probable while inserting or removing a shell holder.

The turret is all set up still, so I’ll probably run another few hundred rounds of the 38s through it tomorrow.

I did run a buncha more 38’s today. That press is just a joy to use. I’m not overly fond of the small-ish ball on the turret handle, and I want an additional one, anyway. So I think I’ll make one using a 1.5” wood ball on a little shorter handle. Film at 11. Or Sunday..or whenever I get to it 🆒
